How I Got 364 FREE Leads From One Instagram Reel in Less Than 24 Hours

Episode 842: Show Notes

Today, I want to tell you about the process that helped me create an Instagram Reel that got me 364 free leads in under 24 hours. A Reel that has since gone on to generate more than 771 leads, and counting. Even I’m still struggling to grasp how this happened!

I'm not here to claim that I've cracked some universal marketing code or boast about one simple trick that will get you unbelievable results. Yes, what I did was incredibly simple and yielded exceptional results, but it wasn’t where I started and it’s not what made this work. It took several months of strategic planning, brainstorming, and taking action before things took off the way that they did. That’s why I’m using today’s episode to tell the full story of how I got here, and how you can take the next step in building your list of dream clients. Let’s get into it!

Helping Small Business Owners Become Financially Free

I have always wanted to see more small business owners become financially free. What I didn’t realize at the start of my journey was how much it would require me to do on my own. I had to get there first so that I could take others with me.

Luckily, I only needed to be a couple of steps ahead of my audience to make a meaningful impact; that’s why it always worked. I didn’t necessarily need to achieve everything ahead of time to show how people could move forward in their businesses.

How I Discovered What My Clients Needed

It took me years to reach a place where I felt comfortable and financially secure, which is how I know that other people's journeys aren’t going to magically materialize in a couple of weeks, months, or even one or two years. If that’s the case, how can I help them achieve their goals? And how can I break it down step by step? What is the next thing my ideal client would need to do to get the kind of traction that would help them achieve their end game?

I began conducting polls and surveys, asking direct questions to better understand my audience’s current mindset and requirements. When it came to structuring my surveys, I wasn’t trying to discover the answer to more sophisticated questions like “What’s your issue with making money?” or “How are you struggling to grow your money or invest money?” That was way too far down the line. I needed them to build a business asset that would fuel all of those things. I had to help them with the foundational elements, like sales. But to create sales, you need leads. After conducting these polls, it quickly became very clear that the most pressing question my audience had was “How do I get more leads?"

Where The Majority of My Leads and Growth Came From

Looking back at my company, I can see that the majority of my growth and lead generation came from selling low-priced digital products. These were designed to attract my ideal client. They would convert at a low price point, and I could earn their trust and demonstrate the high value I could offer them. By following this process, my other products and services would then make sense to them.

I created Digital Product Jumpstart to teach this to other small business owners and provide a step-by-step guide for developing a digital product idea that meets your goals and attracts your ideal client. But, I didn’t release it immediately. Instead, I launched it on pre-sale at the start of the year. I know a lot of people feel wary of pre-sales, but it’s a lot more common than you think, and it’s an excellent way to get feedback before you go about building your product.

The Biggest Sticking Point For My Clients

Once I launched the Digital Product Jumpstart program, I analyzed how people were using it. I observed their sticking points and where they failed to progress, even when I was sure they had all the information they needed to move forward. I paid careful attention to those gaps and used the information I had gathered to build a resource that I initially gave exclusively to my clients.

I discovered that the biggest sticking point wasn’t necessarily getting their product launched or telling people that it existed in the first place. They were actually getting stuck at the very first step! I would never have guessed this on my own, because it’s not what I struggled with. This proved to me, once again, that you need to build products off collective knowledge, not just your own experience.

How I Helped My Clients Get Over Their Biggest Hurdle

Now, I knew I needed to create a resource that would help my clients get over this hurdle. I decided to break down that first step and make it even simpler. First, I developed a database of 500 digital product ideas. I then divided it by niche or industry. This allowed them to look at the industry that was most closely related to their own and see different examples. They could also look at totally unrelated industries for comparison. By analyzing different formats and messaging, they could start to identify patterns to help them make decisions.

To break things down even further (because 500 ideas is a lot to digest!), I narrowed it down to 100 ideas. I also provided insights into how to avoid common mistakes and helpful tips for simplifying the decision-making process.

Staying Focused

Throughout this entire journey, I didn't just drop everything and focus solely on my clients (something I’ve been inclined to do in the past). I learned the hard way that I can't constantly juggle my attention. I had to find the right balance so that I could effectively serve my clients while also keeping the business going. So, while I was dedicated to my clients, I also kept the marketing engine running, directing folks to my podcast and offering free value through various channels.

Why My Post Generated So Much Engagement

This year, I committed to increasing visibility, and I stuck to it. I honed my skills in crafting compelling hooks and producing engaging content, which not only drove interaction but also attracted cold audiences. All of this groundwork culminated in a pivotal moment. I had truly grasped the needs of my audience, created a digital solution, and delivered on it! I didn't just stop there; I continued refining the product based on feedback and crafted a lead magnet to address their primary pain points even before they joined the paid program.

When it came time to launch, I didn't drum up hype or tease the release. I simply put it out there with one post. And because I was so attuned to the needs of my audience, that post received unprecedented engagement from day one. It might not have garnered the most views initially, but the level of interaction spoke volumes. People were hungry for what I had to offer!
