What is your design process?
I am so glad you asked because this process is very different for every designer. Check out the 3 part series to learn more about working with Abagail and Emylee.

Why should I pick you over another designer? 
Because you want to! There are many other designers and marketing specialists on the market. We are different because we get to know you and your business first. Sure you will come out looking like a million bucks, but we want to create real solutions that solve real problems. Our reason driven design is tactful and calculated. Throughout the process, we will give you hands on opportunities to get involved and learn the “why” behind the design. Plus, you get an amazing package deal with us. Abagail’s design + strategy and Emylee’s styling + planning. 

I am not from Kansas City or Tulsa, can we still work together? 
Absolutely! We have clients near and far. Whether you are 2-hours west or half way across the globe we will find a process that works for all of us.

What is your design style? 
Tailor fit and totally custom. Abagail likes to create designs that are a perfect for your audience or ideal client. Whether that is soft and feminine or clean and modern she can modify her style to work for you. 

What gear do you use for sessions?
Emylee shoots with a Nikon D600 with various lenses. She will usually have a few light boxes or diffusers with her to assist in lighting, but she does not use flash. By using only natural light this creates a much truer to life look and feel to your brand images.

How many revisions do I get?
Abagail wants you to be happy with what is created. No one wants to pay for something to turn around and change it in a year. Typically most projects include several initial options and two rounds of changes. If the changes go out of project scope, she will communicate with you if there are any additional charges before proceeding. 

What is your pricing?
We have some base pricing and packages listed on the work with us page. We know every person and every business is different and as such we work with you to put together custom proposals tailored to your specific needs and stage in business.

What if I don’t see the type of project listed that I am interested in?
Not to worry. Many of our favorite projects are custom to a client’s needs or wants. Contact us about your idea and we will talk through a solution that will work for you and your business.

How long will my project take? This is very project specific. At the beginning of every project, we will go over expectations and discuss all necessary timelines. Projects can range from a day's time to a couple weeks or several months.

What’s the turnaround time for photo editing?
This is a very client specific question. Some images require very minimal post processing while others, such as product images, require intense perfection. Time can range anywhere from one week for lifestyle head shots to up to one month for product images. Emylee is happy to chat about the specifics for your project.

What platforms do you use or support?
For most website and digital design projects Abagail uses Squarespace. While they are based on templates that is just a starting point for your design. She carefully designs your website to speak to your ideal client both in style, layout and messaging. Your design will not look like a template; it will look totally custom and cohesive for your brand. For more explanation on why she chooses Squarespace over many other options, read more here.

Occasionally, Abagail works with online retailers where selling direct to consumer is really important. In this case she will build a custom Shopify website, complete with Product upload and descriptions. With Shopify you get extra support for things like inventory, labeling and in-person checkout. Squarespace does have some basic e-commerce capabilities which are still fabulous depending on the volume and types of items you plan on offering. Let’s discuss what works for your needs.

For email templates and newsletters she will set up automation in Mailchimp. Mailchimp is very user-friendly and has many great options that start out free. The great thing is that as you build your list, Mailchimp grows with you and so does their subscription model. Want to do a DIY setup? Here is a tutorial to get you started on Mailchimp.

For all other design work Abagail uses Adobe Creative Cloud.

Do you write my content or do I have to provide it? 
It depends on your needs. Although we prefer to help you out from start to finish, we understand the desire to want to contribute to the design. You are welcome to provide copy, however, we would love to work with you to define a clearer message. If you prefer to be hands off, content creation can definitely be something we talk more about.

How can I use my styled images?
We would love for you to use your styled images in multiple ways! You’re welcome to use them for print materials, advertising, social media posts, and website images. You cannot use them on products intended to sell unless otherwise arranged.

Why can’t you shoot product images in my office/store?
In order to achieve the clean and crisp look product images require, the shooting area has to be very controlled. Emylee has all the professional gear needed set up in her home studio and most of the items cannot be transported.

What file types do I get at the end of my project?
Every project is a bit different, but we will always provide you the appropriate file types for printing or web use. Once you have paid in full you own a full license to use and distribute the design as you see fit. We even will create a custom site for you to reference during the project, as well as store finished designs so you can refer to them later.

Do you offer special pricing if I want multiple services?
Absolutely! We offer many bundled options and can always tailor them for your business. Contact us for full pricing and a copy of your proposal.

I am on a budget, can I get a discount?
We understand running a small business can be expensive, especially when you are just starting out. We do have a few a la carte items that you can purchase individually as the budget allows. Or if you are interested in the DIY approach, Abagail does offer one-on-one educational coaching classes where we can cover:

  • Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Indesign & Illustrator
  • Email Marketing (Mailchimp)
  • Social Media
